As psychedelic experiences become more common, many people are finding themselves supporting a friend, partner, client, or community member through an altered state. Being caring and well-intentioned matters — but it is not always enough. Ethical support requires humility, preparation, grounded presence, and a clear understanding of your role.
This live introductory training offers practical foundations for supporting someone during a psychedelic or other non-ordinary state of consciousness. We will explore how to create a safer and more supportive container without overstepping, directing someone else’s process, or trying to become the hero of their experience.
Participants will learn:
The difference between sitting, supporting, and facilitating
Core principles of ethical, consent-based, and non-directive care
How to prepare a supportive environment before an experience
Grounding tools for moments of fear, overwhelm, or emotional intensity
How to recognize personal limits and know when additional support is needed
Common boundary mistakes — and how to avoid them
This training is designed for psychedelic-curious community members, friends and partners, newer trip sitters, harm-reduction volunteers, therapists and wellness professionals, and emerging facilitators seeking a stronger ethical foundation.
